Later today one of my co-employee called me and asked me why his download speed in downloading a device driver from a popular device manufacturer’s website is quite slow.
the download speed hovers at about 80 Kbps to 150 kbps.
We got a Fiber internet connection and its download and upload speed is 300 Mbps.
I told him that some websites have capped download speed to avoid server breakdown. Capping download speed is nothing new. I have experienced it about ten years ago.
Website owners need to cap download speed so that their server will not be overwhelmed. I also experienced that some websites only allow five simultaneously download at a time per IP address.
If ever you encounter a slow download even if your internet speed is 400 Mbps there’s nothing you can do about because you probably be downloading from a capped website.
